Applying To Residence

The application process is comprised of four main steps: applying to Residence, getting accepted, making your payment and selecting your roommate. Each step of the way residence staff are here to navigate you through the process.

Application

  • You can apply for Residence by filling out the online application. Applications will be accepted at any time on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note: Prior to the student being accepted to Residence, a non-refundable Application Fee of $100 must be made. This Application Fee applies to each application and is not refundable in the event of cancellation or withdrawal of the student’s residence application.

    Applications for Summer Term (May – August) and Academic Year (September – April) open March of the same year. Applications for Winter Term (January – April) open in October of the preceding year.

  • You can apply for Residence before you are accepted at Seneca Polytechnic, however you will need to be currently enrolled and maintaining status as a full-time student in good standing at the Institution while living in residence.

Acceptance

  • Academic Year

    Offer emails will be sent starting in May. Space in Residence is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. After receiving an offer email, student applicants are then required to complete their application steps to be invoiced. Completed applications, and the first installments of Residence Fees are due as outlined on our Seneca Residence Suites & Rates page.

    Winter and Summer Terms

    Offer emails for the Summer Term will be sent out starting in April, while offers for the Winter Term will be sent out starting in November. Space in Residence is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, based on availability.

  • In the acceptance email you will receive instructions on how to complete the rest of your acceptance details. The acceptance details will need to be completed through the Housing Portal and asks you important information related to contact and health information, payment information, emergency contact information and personality profile questions which will help you to select a roommate.

    You will also be asked to review and accept the Residence Community Living Standards and the Student Residence Agreement which is a legal document that serves as the contract between you and the Residence. Please ensure that you read them carefully and keep a copy for your records.

  • If the residence becomes full, you may be offered a space on the waitlist. Once a spot becomes available residence staff will reach out via email with a residence offer of acceptance. As spaces are limited, there is no guarantee that students on the waitlist will be accepted into residence prior to the beginning of the term. It is recommended that you apply to residence once applications are made available.

Payment

  • First installments of Residence Fees are due as outlined on our Seneca Residence Suites & Rates page.

  • Accepted methods of payment include certified cheque, bank draft, money order, debit, or online as designated by the Manager. Personal cheques will not be accepted.

    All amounts payable by the Resident under the Student Residence Agreement are payable to “Campus Living Centres”.

Roommates

  • Academic Year

    The roommate selection process will be open in late July early August. During this time applicants will have the opportunity to review possible roommates and make requests. Those students that are unable to locate a roommate or choose to not be a part of the roommate selection process will have a roommate assigned to them by residence staff based on the profile questions answered during the applications process.

    Winter and Summer Terms

    Students in the Winter and Summer Terms will have a roommate assigned to them by Residence staff based on the profile questions answered during the applications process.

  • Students will receive an email from residence prior to Move In with their roommate's name and email address. This email will be sent in late April, early May for the Summer Term, mid to late August for the Academic Term, and late December early January for the Winter Term.

    Move In

    Moving into residence is an exciting time, information will be emailed closer to your move in date which will include: your official Move In date, where to Park, what to bring and guest information.

    Orientation
